Isaac and Albert spot a hot air balloon flying at a low altitude. They decide to calculate its height by standing 400 feet apart

on a level surface and measuring the angle of elevation to the balloon. From
Albert, the balloon was at an angle of elevation of 62°and from Issac its was 48º. Determine the height of
the balloon above the ground to the nearest foot.

Answer:

144 feet to nearest foot.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the distance between Albert and the point on the ground that the balloon is directly above be x feet Then for Isaac the distance is 400 - x feet

So we have 2 right angled triangles and:

tan 62 = h/x

tan 48 = h / (400- x)         where h is the height of the balloon.

From the first equation x = h / tan 62 so plugging this into the second one:

tan 48 =  h /  ( 400 - h/tan 62)

h = 400 tan 48 - h tan 48 tan 62

h + h tan 48 tan 62 = 400 tan 48

h ( 1 + tan48 tan62) = 400 tan48

h = 400 tan 48 / (1 +  tan 48 tan 62)

= 143.8 feet.

A cake has circumference of 2517 25 1 7 inches. What is the area of the cake? Use 227 22 7 for π π . Round to the nearest hundre
S_A_V [24]

Answer:

22in²

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the scenario, computation of the given data are as follows,

Circumference = 25 (1/7)

As we know,

Circumference of a circle = 2πr

By solving this we get

Radius (r) = 4in

Now. we can calculate the area by using following formula,

Area  = πr²

By putting the value, we get

Area = (22/7) × 4²

=  22/7 × 16

= 352÷16

Area = 22in²

How to slove step by step
wariber [46]
\frac{x+3}{12} = \frac{2}{7}

Multiply both sides by 12, so that we get rid of the fraction in x.

12 · (x+3)/12 = 2/7 · 12

Simplify.

x + 3 = 24/7

Then, subtract 3 from both sides, so that "x" gets isolated.

x = 24/7 - 3

Turn "3" into an improper fraction so that we could find the value of x easier.

3 = 21/3

So :

x = 24/7 - 21/7

Simplify.

x = 3/7

~Hope this helps!~
