Some chemicals in the environment enter the body and are unchanged when they are eliminated. Others are degrading. Degradation products may be more toxic or less toxic than the original chemical. Other chemicals are stored temporarily in the organs and are eliminated soon after. After a while, most chemicals and degradation products are disposed of as body waste, in the stool, urine, sweat and exhaled air.
