At a concert, the number of security guards needed is based on the average density of people in an area of 25'x25' called a bloc

k. The concert space measures 350' by 200'. The number of security guards is based on the number of blocks necessary and each security guard can only be responsible for one block. 12,000 people are expected to attend the concert.

find total area  by multiplying  350' x 200' = 70,00 sq ft

area of one block, multiply 25' x 25' = 625 sq ft  = area for one Security guard

divide area for one security guard into total area of facility  70,000 / 625 =

112 security guards

find how many people for each block = 70,000 / 625 = 112 blocks

12,000 people divided by 112 blocks = 12,000 / 112 = 107.14 rounded to nearest 10 = 110 people per block

sveticcg [70]

The 95% confidence interval of voters not favoring the incumbent is (0.0706, 0.1294).

Sample size, n=400

Sample proportion, p = 40 / 400

= 0.1

We use normal approximation, for this, we check that both np and n(1-p) >5.

Since n*p = 40 > 5 and n*(1-p) = 360 > 5, we can take binomial random variable as normally distributed, with mean = p = 0.1 and standard deviation  = root( p * (1-p) /n )

= 0.015

For constructing Confidence interval,

Margin of Error (ME) =  z x SD = 0.0294

95% confidence interval is given by Sample Mean +/- (Margin of Error)

0.1 +/- 0.0294 = (0.0706 , 0.1294)

Adam put $100 in a savings account. After 10 years, he had $1649 in the account. What rate of interest did he earn? Use the form
Korolek [52]
The formula is
A=p e^rt
A future value 1649
P present value 100
R interest rate?
T time 10 years
E constant
Solve the formula for r
R=[log (A/p)÷log (e)]÷t
R=(log(1,649÷100)÷log(e))÷10
R=0.28×100
R=28%
