The car sputters to a stop. You look at the fuel gauge. The needle is on E. The next gas station is 12 miles from here. The sun

hangs high in the sky. The heat is oppressive. You reach for your bottle of water. It is almost empty. There is nobody else as far as your eye can see. Do you stay by your car and wait for help or do you attempt to walk to the gas station? Turn to page 44 to wait by the car. Turn to page 96 to walk to the gas station.
Spaceman Spartacus spoke through the communication device in his spacesuit, "Chief Rourke, do you see anything movin' in my vicinity?" Spaceman Spartacus was worried about unidentified creatures ambushing him. He had seen a lot of things in this Universe, and many of those things frightened him. Chief Rourke clicked the radar panel on the monitor. A map came up with several large Xs approaching Spaceman Spartacus. Chief Rourke knew that this meant trouble. He was afraid for his friend so he shouted, " Spartacus! Get out of there now!"

In at least 150 words, explain why Our Town is a modernist play. Discuss specific theatrical devices and themes that link the te
aliya0001 [1]
Our Town by Thornton Wilder is a modernist play because it explores the transience of human life, in a sense that the characters in the play highlight the significance of the little things that they do in their daily lives. The play is also narrated through the view of a stage manager which openly tells the audience about how the stage is designed and what each prop is meant for. The stage manager is a character both inside and outside the play which blurs the wall between the reality that what the audience is about to see is fictional, and the fiction that the play is supposedly real in the character's point of view. This characteristic of the play destabilizes the line between fact and fiction and is considered a modernist play based on that setting itself, among all other themes of the play.
