The function H(t) = -16t^2 + 60t + 95 shows the height H(t), in feet, of a projectile after t seconds. A second projectile objec

t moves in the air along a lath represented by g(t) = 20 + 38.7t, where g(t) is the height, in feet, of the object from the ground at time t seconds.
Part A: Create a table using integers 1 through 4 for the 2 functions. Between what 2 seconds is the solution to H(t) = g(t) located? How do you know? (6 points)

Part B: Explain what the solution from part A means in context of the problem. (4 points)

Answer:

t H(t) g(t)

1 139 58.7

2 151 97.4

3 131 136.1

4 79 174.8

between 2nd and 3rd both are equal.

it shows they are at same height when t is between 2 and 3

Occasionally an airline will lose a bag. Suppose a small airline has found it can reasonably model the number of bags lost each
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

a) The probability that the airline will lose no bags next monday is 0.1108

b) The probability that the airline will lose 0,1, or 2 bags next Monday is 0.6227

c) I would recommend taking a Poisson model with mean 4.4 instead of a Poisson model with mean 2.2

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability mass function of X, for which we denote the amount of bags lost next monday is given by this formula

P(X=k) = \frac{e^{-2.2} * {2.2}^k }{k!}

a)

P(X=0) = \frac{e^{-2.2} * {2.2}^0 }{0!} = 0.1108

The probability that the airline will lose no bags next monday is 0.1108.

b) Note that P(X \in \{0,1,2\} = P(X=0) + P(X=1) + P(X=2) . And

P(X=0)+P(X=1)+P(X=2) = e^{-2.2} * (1 + 2.2 + 2.2^2/2) = 0.6227

Therefore, the probability that the airline will lose 0,1, or 2 bags next Monday is 0.6227.

c) If the double of flights are taken, then you at least should expect to loose a similar proportion in bags, because you will have more chances for a bag to be lost. WIth this in mind, we can correctly think that the average amount of bags that will be lost each day will double. Thus, i would double the mean of the Poisson model, in other words, i would take a Poisson model with mean 4.4, instead of 2.2.

- 4. What is the roster form of the set K = {x/x are odd numbers from 2 to 8} ? A. H = {2, 4, 6, 8} C. H = {3, 4, 5, 6, 7} B. H
tangare [24]
<h3>Answer:  H = {3, 5, 7}</h3>

Explanation:

We simply list any odd number that is between 2 and 8. The term "roster form" can be thought of as listing the roster of a sports team (eg: baseball). So instead of describing what the numbers look like, we list out the numbers themselves. Those numbers being 3, 5 and 7.

Something like {2,4,6,8} is ruled out because we're dealing with odd numbers only.
