The Great Leap Forward was an economic and social campaign by the Chinese communist party. Its aim was to transform the country into an industrialized country from an agrarian country. This resulted in famine and food shortages. The resulting famine is known as The Great Chinese Famine. It is estimated that between 18 and 35 million people died from starvation. The people were not allowed to own their own plots of land to farm on. They were forced into farming on collective land and the Chinese government of the day tried to force the concept of rural industrialization on the people
Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism.
Its founder, Siddhartha Gautama, started out as a Hindu. For this reason, Buddhism is often referred to as an offshoot of Hinduism. Known to the world as Buddha, Gautama is believed to have been a wealthy Indian prince.
