Rudik [331]

Answer:

If this trend continues, life expectancy will be 73 years in the year 1990

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi

first of all, we build a model with the knowns of the problem, so we have LifeExpectancy=LE(x)=55+0.2x, x in years after 1900, then  we have

73=55+0.2x as we isolate for x, x=\frac{73-55}{0.2}=90, finally, we obtain that the birth year which the average life expectancy will be 73 years is 1990

I need help with this question, please. This is non graded.
zaharov [31]

The rule of the volume of the rectangular prism is

V=L\times W\times H

L is the length

W is the width

H is the height

From the attached picture we can see

L = (2x - 3)

W = (x + 1)

H = (3x + 4)

We will substitute them in the rule above

V=(2x-3)(x+1)(3x+4)

We will multiply the first 2 brackets, then multiply the answer by the 3rd bracket

\begin{gathered} (2x-3)(x+1)=(2x)(x)+(2x)(1)+(-3)(x)+(-3)(1) \\ (2x-3)(x+1)=2x^2+2x-3x-3 \\ (2x-3)(x+1)=2x^2-x-3 \end{gathered}

Multiply this answer by the 3rd bracket

\begin{gathered} (2x^2-x-3)(3x+4)= \\ \left(2x^2\right)\left(3x\right)+\left(2x^2\right)\left(4\right)+\left(-x\right)(3x)+(-x)(4)+(-3)(3x)+(-3)(4)= \\ 6x^3+8x^2-3x^2-4x-9x-12= \\ 6x^3+5x^2-13x-12 \end{gathered}

Then the volume of the prism is

V=6x^3+5x^2-13x-12

The answer is the 2nd choice

I am thinking of a fraction. The sum of the numerator and denominator is 19. When I add
Blizzard [7]

Answer:

\frac{9}{10}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the fraction be \frac{x}{y}.

That would mean:

(1)    x+y = 19

&

(2)    y+8 = 2x or 2x = y+8

In order to use substitution, we multiply equation by 2:

(3)   2x+2y = 38

Then we substitute equation (2) into (3):

y+8 + 2y = 38

3y + 8 = 38

3y = 30

y = 10

Substitute this into equation (1)

x + 10 = 19

x = 9

Therefore the fraction would be:

\frac{9}{10}
