n these excerpts, how does Cugoano’s approach differ from Sancho’s approach? Cugoano calls for people to take small steps to end

slavery, while Sancho asks for bold moves. Cugoano appeals to his audience personally, while Sancho appeals to the greater public. Cugoano is more willing to wait than Sancho, who is calling for immediate action. Cugoano has a much more authoritative tone than Sancho, who is respectful to Sterne.

Ignatius Sancho, born in 1729 on a slave ship and died 1780, and Quobna Ottoba Cugoano, born in Ghana in 1757, date of death unknown, were among some of the most prominent anti-slavery Africans of the 1700 and 1800´s. Both of them, in their own ways, but both mostly through writing and the arts, supported and spured in England the movement to abolish the salve trade and slavery as a whole from the British empire. While Cugoano was a much more active speaker, in that he did not just discuss the issue of slavery but rather became forceful in his demand that slavery be abolished in England due to its unholiness and cruelty, Sancho discussed the issue through a series of letters that he wrote to a friend, Laurence Sterne, and others, along with other political and social topics. Because of Cugoano´s much stronger and louder argument against slavery, in comparison to Sancho´s style, is why the correct answer here is: Cugoano has a much more authoritative tone than Sancho, who is respectful of Sterne. This can be seen in the writings of both authors and the excerpts from their writings.
