Before World War II (1939–1945) began, many African-Americans lived in the South. They eked out a living as tenant farmers or sharecroppers. As the nation prepared for war, better paying factory and manufacturing jobs became available in the North and on the coasts. In September 1940, Randolph was part of a delegation that met with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and demanded that the president end segregation in the armed forces. Roosevelt did not act.

What is the foundation of modern astronomy developed out of what Renaissance discovery
bixtya [17]
Modern astronomy came mostly from the discovery that the earth was revolving around the sun and not the sun around the earth. The church claimed before that the earth is in the middle of the universe and that the sun goes around it, however, astronomers of the time managed to prove that the earth was in fact revolving around the sun.
