To read this stem and leaf plot you will look at the values to the left as Doctor 1 and values to the right Doctor 2.

Please see my attached work for the data set.

My work also shows the means and the medians to compare.

Answer:

For Doctor 1 --- Mean = 12 Median = 12

For Doctor 2 ---- Mean = 16 Median = 18.5

Step-by-step explanation:

From the leaf and stem plot given in the question we will write down the ages of each patient of Doctor 1 and Doctor 2 individually.

For Doctor 1

Age of the patients ( from the center to the left side )

01, 01, 02, 03, 07, 09, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 29

Therefore mean of the patient's age = Total age / number of patients = 144/12 =12

Median = (Sum of 6th and 7th term)/2 = (9 + 15)/2 = 24/2 = 12

For Doctor 2

Age of the patients (from the center to the right)

02, 02, 03, 09, 13, 17, 20, 20, 22, 23, 26, 35

Mean = Total of ages/ 12 = 192/12 = 16

Median = (sum of 6th and 7th term)/2 = (17+20)/2 = 37/2 = 18.5
