(a) Using technology, determine the correlation coefficient for the data to the nearest hundredth. Explain the steps you used.
ANSWER: (not sure which one of all of these were the answer, all of these showed up on my calculator when I had already calculated the correlation coefficient-
Y=ax+b
A= 24. 22001+42
B= 63.297787.54
R2= .8581201016
R= .9263477218
1. I had to click on the blue 2nd button to the left of the ‘MODE’ button. Then ‘Catalog’ or the zero.
2. Then turn on my Diagnostics by scrolling down. Enter twice. Until calculator says ’Done’
3. Click ‘STAT’ then press the right arrow ➡ to go to “Edit”
4. Enter your x and y/ data
5. Afterwards click on the STAT button once again and the right arrow twice to go to ‘CALC’ then #4 to Linear Regression.
Hence, my answer is- (my equations are rounded to the nearest hundredths in the parentheses next to it:
Y=ax+b
A= 24. 22001942 (24.22)
B= 63.29778754 (63.30)
R2= .8581201016 (.86)
R= .9263477218 (0.93)
