Answer:

The answer is C > A > B

Step-by-step explanation:

This a conservation of momentum problem, that means that the initial momentum of the system is equal to final momentum of the system.

The mass of the big fish is 5 times greater than the mass of the smaller fish, therefore, to make things simpler,

Let the mass of the big fish be 5 kg and the mass of the small one be 1 kg.

In our case we have:

Momentum before lunch = momentum after lunch.

(v_{1} *m_{1}) + (v_{2} *m_{2}) = (m_{1} *m_{2})* v\\

In the first case (A), v1 = 4 m/s ; v2 = 0 m/s

(4 m/s*5kg) + (0 m/s*1 kg) = (5kg + 1 kg)*v

20 + 0 = 6v

V = \frac{20}{6}

V = \frac{10}{3} m/s

In the second case (B), v1 = 4 m/s ; v2 = -1 m/s  (v2 is negative because it’s going to the opposite direction of the bigger fish)

(4 m/s*5kg) + (-1 m/s*1 kg) = (5kg + 1 kg)*v

20 - 1 = 6v

V = \frac{19}{6} m/s

In the third case (C), v1 = 5 m/s ; v2 = -2 m/s  (v2 is negative because it’s going to the opposite direction of the bigger fish)

(5 m/s*5kg) + (-2 m/s*1 kg) = (5kg + 1 kg)*v

25 - 2 = 6v

V = \frac{23}{6} m/s

Therefore, the greatest speed is the third case and the smallest is the second case. So, C > A > B

You are trying to figure out 1/6 of her weight. Since her weight is 19 pounds, you would put it over one to create a fraction and times is by 1/6 which would give you 19/6.

Number of game tokens is the label on x-axis.

<u>Step-by-step explanation</u>:

The equation is y = 0.5x + 3

Given,

  • Admission charge = $3
  • Cost of game token = $0.5 per game.

Total cost = admission charge + cost for number of game token

where,

  • y represents the total cost
  • x represents the number of game tokens.

Flying against the wind, a jet travels 2190 miles in 3 hours. Flying with the wind, the same jet travels 9520 miles in 8 hours.
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

Velocity of jet in still air is 970 miles per hour and velocity of wind is 210 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Jet's velocity against wind is

3040/4 = 760 miles per hour and flying with wind it is

8260/7 = 1180 miles per hour.

Let the velocity of jet in still air be x miles per hour and velocity of wind be y miles per hour.

As such its velocity against wind is x − y and with wind is x + y and therefore

x − y = 760 and x + y = 1180

Adding the two 2 x = 1940 and x = 970 and y = 1180 − 970 = 210

Hence velocity of jet in still air is 970 miles per hour and velocity of wind is

210 miles per hour.
