In "Letter From Birmingham Jail" King states that white moderates were worse than openly intolerant people, because they prioritized order over justice. While oppressive groups were honest about their beliefs, white moderates claimed that they support the black movement, but felt that they were allowed to nitpick and set limitations on how and when the movement demanded justice.
