Answer:

THE MEETING POOL

BY RUSKIN BOND

The Meeting Pool by Ruskin Bond is considered as one of the greatest pieces for describing the ravages of time. It describes that how the requirements and necessities of an individual changes by the passage of time. It  also depicts that the time is an oblivious enimity and time is tyrant.

It says that the time is omnidestructive. Time destroys everything- the relation, the friendship, the necessities, the immortality of royals ,etc.

RAVAGES OF TIME ACCORDING TO RUSKIN BOND:-

THE MEETING POOL deals with three friends. The friends were chums and played a lot in their childhood.Among them was the narrator-BUSTY. He found a pool and made his friends acquinted with the presence of the secret pool . All of them went there and played a lot. They spent time fishing, swimming and bull riding. Their childhood revolved around the pool  and they decided to meet back after 10 years on 5th april 1964.

Busty kept his promise and was present on the scheduled day. But his friend did not come. He was very disappointed and realised that everything changes with respect of time. Time destroys everything and diverts the necessities and requirements of an individual.

Busty then finds another pool and saw some children playing there. He recalls his childhood and his hear fills with sorrow and a dismal expression strikes his face. He feels isolated and feels very bad. He blames time for this. He says that the time is tyrant and because of it his friends forgot him.

THE CONCLUSION :-

TIME IS TYRANT . IT DESTROYS EVERYTHING. NOTHING CAN WITHSTAND THE WRATH OF TIME. THE RAVAGES OF TIME ARE VERY DESTRUCTIVE. IT DESTROYS ALL THE MEMORY AND CLEARS THE PRESENCE OF ALL. IT HAS THE POWER TO WASH AWAY ALL THE LOVE AND AFFECTION  AND TO MAKE AN INDIVIDUAL FORGET SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. TIME IS THE METAPHORICAL REPRESENTATION OF DESTRUCTION AND FORGETFULNESS. THE NEEDS AND WANTS ARE CHANGED BY TIME .

THANKS!!

Answer:

Hardin's metaphor describes a lifeboat bearing 50 people, with room for ten more. The lifeboat is in an ocean surrounded by a hundred swimmers. The "ethics" of the situation stem from the dilemma of whether (and under what circumstances) swimmers should be taken aboard the lifeboat.

Hardin compared the lifeboat metaphor to the Spaceship Earth model of resource distribution, which he criticizes by asserting that a spaceship would be directed by a single leader – a captain – which the Earth lacks. Hardin asserts that the spaceship model leads to the tragedy of the commons. In contrast, the lifeboat metaphor presents individual lifeboats as rich nations and the swimmers as poor nations.
