It makes me smile when I think about this memory even a year later. It happened in an unexpected place and I was surprised at my own actions. One hot day, I was on my way home after going to a job interview. I was thinking of meeting my uncle for lunch first so I took alternative route through some neatly-cut grass to reach the shopping mall. To my surprise, my eyes spotted something unusual on a patch of grass.

Curious, I went nearer to the object and realised it was a wallet. I picked it up and opened to see the contents inside. The wallet contained money and important identification documents belonging to the owner.

I was tempted to take the cash for myself and discard the rest of the wallet's contents. However, good overcame the greed in me and I looked for the address in the identification card so I could return the wallet to the owner. When I reached the address, I found him looking anxiously for something outside the door. I called to him and asked what he was looking for. He told me he had lost his wallet so I showed him the wallet I had found. His face lighted up as he checked the wallet's contents and verified it was the wallet he had lost. He was pleased at my honestly and we had a short chat. I told him I was looking for a job as it was hard these days at job interviews. This young man turned out to be a manager of a big company that I had tried to apply for but got rejected. In return for my good deed, he offered me a job there. I landed a job at a company I liked and it was the best day I ever had.
