A computer laboratory manager was in charge of purchasing new battery packs for her lab of laptop computers. She narrowed her ch

oices to two models that were available for her machines. Since the models cost about the same, she was interested in determining whether there was a difference in the average time the battery packs would function before needing to be recharged. She took two independent samples and computed the following summary information: The test statistic is: -0.7557 Using alpha

The information is missing. The information is :

                            Battery Pack model 1           Battery Pack model 2

Sample size                      9                                            9

Sample mean                 5 hours                               5.5 hours

Standard deviation        1.5 hours                             1.3 hours

Solution :

Given :

$n_1 = 9, x_1 = 5,s_1 = 1.5$

$n_2 = 9, x_2 = 5.5 ,s_2 = 1.3$

The null hypothesis is :

$H_0: \mu_1-\mu_2=0$

The alternate hypothesis is :

$H_a: \mu_1-\mu_2 \neq0$

Therefore, the standard error is

$SE = \sqrt{\frac{s_1^2}{n_1}+\frac{s_2^2}{n_2}}$

     $ = \sqrt{\frac{1.5^2}{9}+\frac{1.3^2}{9}}$

    = 0.66165

Thus the test statics is

$t=\frac{x_1-x_2}{SE}$

$t=\frac{5-5.5}{0.66165}$

  = -0.756

The coordinates of G = ( -6 , 5 )

The coordinates of H = ( 2 , - 7 )

\sf{ Distance \:GH = √( -6 - 2)² + ( 5 -(-7))²}

\sf{Distance\:GH= √(-8)^2+(5 + 7)^2}

\sf{Distance\:GH=√(-8)^2+(12)^2}

\sf{ Distance \:GH =√64 + 144 }

\sf{ Distance \:GH =√ 208}

\sf{ Distance\: GH = √ 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 13}

\sf{ Distance \:GH = 4√13}

A new computer can complete a complex biochemistry calculation in 7 hours less than an older-model computer. Working together, t
Alchen [17]
The rate a computer works is 1/time. Working together, you add the rates.
Let new computer be x, old computer be y.
x = y - 7

\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{y} = \frac{1}{13} \\  \\ \frac{1}{y-7}+\frac{1}{y} = \frac{1}{13} \\  \\ \frac{2y-7}{y(y-7)} = \frac{1}{13} \\  \\ y(y-7) = 13(2y-7) \\  \\ y^2-33y+91 = 0 \\  \\ y = 29.96 \\  \\ x = y-7 = 29.96-7 = 22.96
Rounded to nearest tenth gives:
x = 23 hours

Solve the given equation
AlexFokin [52]
Eliminate the fractions by multiplying by least common multiple.
4,9,12 all go into 36 evenly. Multiply entire equation by 36.

36/4 = 9
36/9 = 4
36/12 = 3

New equation looks like:
9(w-1) +4(w+1) = -3(w+1) \\  \\ 9w -9 +4w +4 = -3w -3  \\  \\ 9w +4w+3w = -3 +9 -4 \\  \\ 16w = 2 \\  \\ w = \frac{2}{16} = \frac{1}{8}
