Answer:

21 boxes of books

Step-by-step explanation:

guy= 140 lbs

each box= 40lbs                       elevator can only weigh up to 1010

i took 1010- 140 and got 870lbs left for the books

then i took 870 divided by 40 (to see how many boxes of books can be put on the elevator) and got 21.75

so 21 boxes could go on the elevator at a time

Answer:

a_n=6\cdot (-1)^n

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Alternating Sequences</u>

A sequence whose terms alternate in the sign is called an alternating sequence.

The given sequence consists of the numbers -6 and 6 in infinite alternation.

Such sequences can be expressed as equations of the form

a_n=a\cdot (-1)^m

Where a is the constant absolute value of each term and m is an expression adequately arranged to reproduce the alternation of signs.

Since the sign is minus for odd terms, and plus for even terms, m=n is a good expression for m. Thus:

a_n=6\cdot (-1)^n

An airplane is traveling at a speed of 240 mph with a bearing of 110° the wind velocity is 56 mph at a bearing of 325° what are
Anni [7]
1 answer · Mathematics
Best Answer
"Bearing" is the relative position of an object outside the plane compared to the position of the plane.
Heading the the direction the nose of the plane is pointing
Course is the direction that pilot wants the plane to go.
And I am not sure what you call the wind direction other than direction. Wind direction is always the direction the wind is blowing from.

An airplane is traveling at a speed of 240 miles/hour with a HEADING of 110°

If the plane is heading 110 and the wind is blowing from 325
325 - 110 = 215.
215-180 = 35.

you have a "quartering tail wind." Ground speed will be in excess of the airspeed. True course will be south if the indicated heading.

Tailwind component = 56 cos (35) = 46
cross wind component = 56 sin (35) = 32
course deviation = tan^-1(32) / (286) = 6 degrees
116 degrees at 286 kts

this is actually a slight bit of shorthand.
slightly more precise is C^2 = 286^2 + 32^2
C = 288
and you could have used the law of cosines.

Formúla General <br>a) 4x²=9x-2=0 <br><br>b) X²+8x-84=0<br>
makkiz [27]

Answer:<em> </em><em>a)</em> x=\dfrac{-9 \pm\sqrt{113} }{8}

             <em> b) x₁ = - 14; x₂ = 6.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

a) 4x² + 9x - 2 = 0

x=\dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a} \\\\a=4; \: \: b=9; \: \: c=-2\\x =\dfrac{-9 \pm \sqrt{9^{2}-4 \cdot 4 \cdot (-2) } }{2 \cdot 4} =\dfrac{-9 \pm\sqrt{113} }{8}

b) x² + 8x - 84 = 0

x=\dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a} \\\\a=1; \: \: b=8; \: \: c=-84\\\\x =\dfrac{-8 \pm \sqrt{8^{2}-4 \cdot 1 \cdot (-84) } }{2 \cdot 1} =\dfrac{-8 \pm\sqrt{400} }{2}=\dfrac{-8 \pm 20}{2} =-4 \pm 10\\\\x_{1} =-14\\x_{2} =6
