There are two category of cell wall type and this are Gram-Positive and Gram Negative. The characteristic of the two is as follows;

Gram-Positive
Acidic polysaccharides on surfaces
Appears purple when stained
Thick peptidoglycan layer

Gram-Negative
Outer liposaccharide layer
Appears pink when stained
