Answer:

B.18 protons 22 neutrons 18 electrons

Explanation:

Neutral atom of Argon;

     Atomic mass  = 40amu

     Atomic number   = 18

Let us find the number of the subatomic particles;

 Protons are the positively charged particles in an atom

 Electrons are the negatively charged particles

 Neutrons do not carry any charges.

Now;

  Atomic mass  = number of protons + number of neutrons

   Atomic number  = number of protons

number of protons  = 18

In a neutral atom, number of protons equals number of electrons

  number of electrons  = 18

Number of neutrons  = atomic mass - atomic number

Number of neutrons  = 40 - 18  = 22

18 protons, 18 electrons and 22 neutrons

What is the covalent bond for Hydrogen + Chlorine (HCI)
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

HCl, also known as hydrochloric acid, has a covalent bond. The hydrogen (H) atom shares an electron with the chlorine (Cl) to form the bond.

Explanation:

Consequently, the bonding electrons in hydrogen chloride are shared unequally in a polar covalent bond. The molecule is represented by the conventional Lewis structure, even though the shared electron pair is associated to a larger extent with chlorine than with hydrogen.

Do x-rays travel slower than infrared
OleMash [197]
No, x-rays do not travel slower than infrared radiation or even the opposite. Both are travelling in vacuum therefore they travel at same speed. They differ in the frequency of the electromagnetic waves.

What particle decay is this? 210 83 Bi→210 84 Po
sesenic [268]

Answer:

Beta emission

Explanation:

In beta emission, a neutron is converted into a proton thereby emitting an electron and a neutrino. A neutrino is a particle that serves to balance the spins.

When a nucleus undergoes beta emission, the mass number of the parent and daughter nuclei remain the same while the atomic number of the daughter nucleus is greater than that of its parent by one unit.

Hence, in beta emission, the daughter nucleus is found one pace to the right of the parent in the periodic table.
