This isn't a specific topic I need to know for school or something, Im just curious. I know the first three variable letters mos

t commonly used are x, y, and z. But what if you have more variables, what would be the next letters to use? I have seen some places saying x, y, z, and t; others x, y, z, w, p, and r; and others p, q, r, s, x, y, and z but none seemed to have a definite answer and I don't know what to use.

Hey :)

You basically can use any letters for variables, a-z, it’s totally up to you

Yes, it is very common to see x, y and z, but it is just a preference

If the question requires you to put in a variable, then just pick any letter

Hope this helps!

Max drove 460 miles in 8 hours at a constant speed. How long would it take him to drive 661.25 miles at that speed
Genrish500 [490]
It would take 11.5 hours. If he drove 460 miles in hours, his speed was about 57.5. Driving 661.5 miles at the same speed is equivalent to 11.5 hours.

Chang knows one side of a triangle is 13 cm. Which set of two sides is possible for the lengths of the other two
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

8 cm and 9 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi there!

The sum of the lengths of two sides of a triangle must <em>always be greater</em> than the length of the third side.

5 cm and 8 cm ⇒ 5+8=13; not greater than 13

6 cm and 7 cm ⇒ 6+7=13; not greater than 13

7 cm and 2 cm ⇒ 7+2=9; not greater than 13

8 cm and 9 cm ⇒ 8+9=17; greater than 13

Therefore, the last set of two sides is possible for the lengths of the the other two sides of this triangle.

I hope this helps!

In circle A below, chord BC and diameter DAE intersect at F. If arc CD = 46° and arc BE = 78°, what is m_BFE? D B А
wel

Given:

Consider the below figure attached with this question.

In circle A below, chord BC and diameter DAE intersect at F.

The arc CD = 46° and arc BE = 78°.

To find:

The measure of angle BFE.

Solution:

According to intersecting chords theorem, if two chords intersect inside the circle then the angle on the intersection is the average of intercepted arcs.

Using intersecting chords theorem, we get

m\angle BFE=\dfrac{1}{2}(m(arcCD)+m(arcBE))

m\angle BFE=\dfrac{1}{2}(46^\circ+78^\circ)

m\angle BFE=\dfrac{1}{2}(124^\circ)

m\angle BFE=62^\circ

Therefore, the measure of angle BFE is 62°.

Eliminate the parameter. x = t2 + 2, y = t2 - 4
stepan [7]
\bf \begin{cases}&#10;x=t^2+2\implies x-2=t^2\implies \sqrt{x-2}=\boxed{t}\\\\&#10;y=t^2-4\\&#10;----------\\&#10;y=\left( \boxed{\sqrt{x-2}} \right)^2-4\implies y=x-2-4\\\\&#10;y=x-6&#10;\end{cases}

just a plain vanilla substitution
