Answer:

Urban development can magnify the risk of environmental hazards such as flash flooding. Pollution and physical barriers to root growth promote loss of urban tree cover. Animal populations are inhibited by toxic substances, vehicles, and the loss of habitat and food sources

Answer:

Urbanism has a direct cause for the decrease of quality in the environment. One major effect is increased global warming. The heavy fumes from the factories in urbanized environments cause the atmosphere (ozone layer) to break down. This allows in an excess amount of heat/ultraviolet rays, which in turn effects Earth's daily processes and creates an extreme greenhouse effect. A secondary effect from this is ocean level's rising. The Earth's atmosphere heating up means the polar icecaps are starting to melt. This will cause a lot of major areas to be flooded such as California, New York, and many other important places that could be underwater in as little as 30 years. There are little to no sanctions on how the factories in these densely populated areas are to function while keeping the environment in mind. Knowing this information, the main consensus is that Urbanism is greatly harming environment and will continue to do so unless people start taking notice to the striking decline in environmental health; which directly correlates to the spread of urbanization.

In general, according to the textbook, is "americanization" a positive and desirable experience for immigrant adolescents?
PolarNik [594]

In my opinion, Americanization can be both good and bad for young adolescents. It can help them become independent but it can also cause major issue with culture. The US had been the home of many cultures. There is a possibility that many of these adolescents might forget their cultural traditions and practices because they are more used to being American.
