This piece of sculpture is very different from ancient Greek carving, though it, too, is part of an old religious tradition. It

is made of hard wood covered with small plates of brass and copper and comes from Gabon, a West African country that straddles the equator. It was made by the Kota, a group of tribes who worship in similar ways, and who have made figures such as this for a hundred years, and probably much longer. Which text feature would best strengthen the reader's understanding of the text? a photograph of the West African sculpture a map of the countries in West Africa a sidebar about the West African tribe a table comparing Greek and West African sculpture

Answer: A. A photograph of the West African sculpture.

Explanation: I did the test, and this would seem most plausible, because the West African tribe is not very important, a map is not important at all, and they never talked about comparing and contrasting.

Describe the route of the given voyage in the 1400 to 1650
Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

In 1400 A.D. Europeans probably knew less of the globe than they had during the Pax Romana. Outside of Europe and Mediterranean, little was known, with rumor and imagination filling the gaps. Pictures of bizarre looking people with umbrella feet, faces in their stomachs, and dogs' heads illustrated books about lands to the East. There was the legendary Christian king, Prester John with an army of a million men and a mirror that would show him any place in his realm

What was an argument used to try to justify slavery?
saul85 [17]
Answer:

The southern economy hugely depended on the use of slavery.

Explanation:

One important argument the South saw reasonable and justifiable to not abolish slavery was its dependence for the growth of its economy. In other words, the South's economy was maintained due to the work of the enslaved.

The South's economy was agriculturally based. They did not have factories and large businesses like the North did. They relied on farms and the growing of crops. There were many farms and plantations with too many crops to harvest for the owner, and that's when slavery came in. Not only did Slaves work on farms and plantations, they did manual labor including construction.

Because the southern economy was heavily dependent on slavery, southern slaveholders fought hard to keep slaves. This argument was probably the most reasonable reason to keep slavery made by the South, although it is just as cruel as any other reason for servitude.

To summarize: the South's economy would not survive without slavery, and southern citizens would not make as much money without them.
