What are two reasons east germans decided to flee and seek safety in west germany?
makvit [3.9K]

The correct option is (1): they experienced political oppression by the east German government.

Option (4): the standard of living in west germany was higher than in east germany.

The division of Germany:

Following the Potsdam Conference, Germany was split into four occupied zones: the Soviet Union in the east, the United States in the south, and Great Britain in the northwest.

The two reasons east germans decided to flee and seek safety in west germany are-

 • Following the separation of Germany into East and West, communism was imposed in East Germany without, of course, asking the population whether or not they approved of it. Following the bitter conflict between the East and the West over differing ideologies and the construction of the Iron Curtain, the Soviet Union stopped the West from having any influence on the Eastern nations.
 • In East Germany, anyone who disagrees with a communist viewpoint would face legal action. Aside from governmental dictature, people's lives were also different from those in Western Germany, which focused on prosperity and quality of life.
