Given:

Total amount Rachelle has = $4.75

She has four more nickels than dimes and twice as many quarters as dimes.

To find:

The number of each kind of coin.

Solution:

Let the number of dimes be x. So,

Number of nickels = x+4

Number of quarters = 2x

We know that, 1 nickel = $0.05, 1 dime = $0.10 and 1 quarter = $0.25.

Total amount Rachelle has = $4.75.

0.05(x+4)+0.10x+0.25(2x)=4.75

0.05x+0.20+0.10x+0.50x=4.75

0.65x+0.20=4.75

Subtract both sides by 0.20.

0.65x=4.75-0.20

0.65x=4.55

Divide both sides by 0.65.

x=\dfrac{4.55}{0.65}

x=7

Now,

Number of dimes = 7

Number of nickels = 7+4 = 11

Number of quarters = 2(7) = 14

Therefore, the number of dimes, nickels and quarters are 7, 11 and 14 respectively.

nordsb [41]
Let D be the endpoint of the angle bisector opposite A on lying on side BC. The angle bisector theorem states that the ratio of BD to CD is equal to the ratio of AB to AC. In this case, you have

\dfrac{2x-1}{3x}=\dfrac9{15}

(This is the same equation that you have, it's just rearranged.)

Multiply both sides by 3x and 15.

15\times3x\times\dfrac{2x-1}{3x}=15\times3x\times\dfrac9{15}
15(2x-1)=3x\times9

Now you can solve for x.

30x-15=27x
3x=15
x=5

Both circle Q and circle R have a central angle measuring 140°. The area of circle Q's sector is 25π m2, and the area of circle
taurus [48]

Solution:

we are given that

Both circle Q and circle R have a central angle measuring 140°. The area of circle Q's sector is 25π m^2, and the area of circle R's sector is 49π m^2.

we have been asked to find the ratio of the radius of circle Q to the radius of circle R?

As we know that

Area of the sector is directly proportional to square of radius. So we can write

Area  \  \   \alpha \ \  r^2\\ \\ \Rightarrow A=kr^2\\ \\ \text{where k is some proportionality constant }\\ \\ \Rightarrow \frac{A_1}{A_2}=\frac{r_1^2}{r_2^2}\\ \\  \Rightarrow \frac{r_1^2}{r_2^2}=\frac{A_1}{A_2}\\ \\  \Rightarrow \frac{r_1^2}{r_2^2}=\frac{25 \pi}{49 \pi}\\ \\  \Rightarrow \frac{r_1}{r_2}=\sqrt{\frac{25 \pi}{49 \pi}} \\ \\  \Rightarrow \frac{r_1}{r_2}=\frac{5}{7} \\
