Mathematics

Answer:

<u>First find the slope using the formula </u>

m = (Y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

(x1, y1) = (0,6)

(x2, y2) = (2,10)

m = (10-6)/(2-0)

m = 4/2

m = 2

<u>Now we need the y-intercept or b</u>

y = mx + b

y = 2x + b

<u>Use one of the coordinates for x and y. It doesn't matter which you choose</u>

6 = 2(0) + b

6 = 0 + b

6 = b

<u>Now let's put it together for the equation :</u>

y = 2x + 6

Which ordered pairs is a solution to -5x + 3y &gt; 12?
GaryK [48]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  (-5, 5), (2, 8), (-6, 0)

Step-by-step explanation:

It is convenient to graph the solution, then plot the points to see which fall in the solution area.

The point (3, 9) falls on the boundary line, which is <em>not</em> part of the solution set.

The points that are solutions are ...

  B(-5, 5)

  E(2, 8)

  F(-6, 0)

Y = x² - 4x + 4
y = 2x - 4

Find intersection of L and C:
x² - 4x + 4 = 2x - 4
x² - 6x + 8 = 0
<span> (x - 2)(x - 4) = 0
x = 2 or x = 4

When x = 2 , y = 2(2) - 4 = 0
When x = 4, y = 2(4) - 4 = 4

Points of intersection = A(2, 0) and B(4, 4)

Find the length of AB:

</span>&#10;\text {Length of AB}=  \sqrt{(4-0)^2 + (4-2)^2} =  \sqrt{16 + 4} = \sqrt{20}  = 4.47 \text{ units}
<span>
Answer: 4.47 units
