How did World War II begin?
hammer [34]
The two dates most often mentioned as “the beginning of World War II” are July 7, 1937, when the “Marco Polo Bridge Incident” led to a prolonged war between Japan and China, and September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland, which led Britain and France to declare war on Hitler's Nazi state in retaliation.

World War Two in Europe began on 3rd September 1939, when the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany. It involved many of the world's countries. The Second World War was started by Germany in an unprovoked attack on Poland.

“An Address to Miss Phillis Wheatley” and “On Being Brought from Africa to America” are two foundational early-American poems th
lana [24]

The poems have as their theme the religious violence that enslaved Africans suffered in the colonial period of America.

How is this violence portrayed?

 • Africans were forced to convert to Christianity.
 • Africans were forced to see their homelands and origins as pagan and diabolical elements.
 • Africans were forced to see their skin and conditions as symbols of sin.

This religious violence aimed to justify slavery. For this reason, colonists taught slaves that slavery was a blessing programmed by God to lead Africans out of paganism and allow them to receive divine salvation.

However, even becoming Christians, Africans were seen as sinful elements that represented non-Christian precepts.
