17 - $49 - $19 = 30
        $30/ $5 per hour = 6 hours

Darryl rented the bike for 6 hours

18 - If there are 22 posters left, and half of them burned, so that means that originally there were double of 22 which is 44.
So he had 44 originally but bought 6 more and we have to double the six so that's 44 + 12 = 56

Adam had 56 posters to start with

Your answer is: Darryl- 6 hours; Adam- 56 posters

Have an amazing day!

The focus of a parabola is (-4, -5), and its directrix is y = -1. Fill in the missing terms and signs in the parabola's equation
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

(x+4)^2=-8(y+3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

focus of parabola=(-4,-5)

directrix= -1

Standard form of parabola :

(x - h)^2 = 4p (y - k),

where focus is:

(h, k + p)

directrix  is :

y = k - p

Now equating the values we get

(-4,-5) = (h,k+p)

h=-4

k+p=-5

k=-5-p

Also

y=-1 and y=k-p

i.e. k-p=-1

Substituting k=-5-p in above we get:

-5-p-p=-1

-2p=-1+5

p=4/-2

p=-2

Putting p=-2 in k-p=-1 we get:

k=-1-2

k=-3

Putting all the values in standard formula for parabola we get:

(x - (-4))^2 = 4(-2) (y -(-3))

(x+4)^2=-8(y+3)!

Answer:

A special drill is used at a construction site to dig holes. A hole is dug to a depth of 2.75 feet when the drill hits rock. The progress slows to 5/6 feet per hour of digging. The depth of the hole must be at least 10 1/2 feet by the end of the day to stay on schedule. What is the minimum amount of time the drill must continue at its present rate to complete the hole on schedule? Select from the drop-down menus to correctly complete the statement.
