x+2y=12|\cdot5\\
3x-10y=0\\\\
5x+10y=60\\
\underline{3x-10y=0}\\
8x=60\\
x=\dfrac{60}{8}=\dfrac{15}{2}\\\\
\dfrac{15}{2}+2y=12\\
15+4y=24\\
4y=9\\
y=\dfrac{9}{4}\\\\
\boxe{(x,y)=\left(\dfrac{15}{2},\dfrac{9}{4}\right)}

~~x+2y=12  \\  ~~3x-10y=0 \\
~------ \\~ -3/x+2y=12 \\  ~~~~~~3x-10y=0 \\ ------- \\ -3x-6y=-36 \\ ~~~~3x-10y=0 \\ +------- \\ ~~~~-16y=-36 \\ \\  ~~~~y= \frac{36}{16}\rightarrow \boxed{\frac{9}{4}} \\  \\
x+2. \frac{9}{4}  =12 \\  \\ x+ \frac{18}{4} =12 \\  \\  \frac{4x+18}{4} =12 \\  \\ 4x+18=48 \\ 4x=30 \\  \\ x=\boxed{\frac{15}{2}}

PLEASE HELP FOR 87 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. You can expand the coefficients to yield 6, and add the powers since the bases are the same (ie A)

2. y⁻² can also be rewritten as 1/y², so it becomes 1/y² · 1/y⁵ = 1/y⁷ (ie C)

3. Only the x is affected by the power.

4. y = 3·5ˣ doesn't change in slope, so it essentially is similar to a 5ˣ graph.

5. Should be pretty straight forward.
6. Should be pretty straight forward.
7. Should be pretty straight forward.

8. Since x is the length of the border, calculate the area of the frame and subtract that from the area of the square painting. (Remember that the length of the square painting is x - 8, not x - 4)

9. Should be pretty straight forward.
11 - 25 are pretty much similar to each other.

A cable 20 feet long connects the top of a flagpole to a point on the ground that is 16 feet from the base of the pole. How tall
timurjin [86]
Think of it like a triangle.

The flagpole is vertical and is at 90° to the ground. This makes a right-angle to the ground, which is flat.

Since we have two sides of the triangle already, and they are in a ratio of ?? : 16 : 20 = ?? : 4 : 5, that means that because the triangle is a right-angled triangle, the third and last side must be 3 to complete the ratio! (This is called 'Pythagoras')

Since the other sides were divided by 4 to get the simple ratio, we must multiply 3 to get the actual ratio! 3 × 4 = 12 ft tall flagpole.

The vertices of a triangle are A(4, 1), B(9, 1), C(2, 5). What is the area of this triangle.
kiruha [24]

Hey there!

\large\boxed{10u^2}

Formula for the area of a triangle is (1/2)bh.

Base of this triangle is 5, height is 4.

Image attached.

Plug values into the formula:

A = (1/2)(5)(4)

Simplify.

A = (1/2)(20)

A = 10

Area of the triangle is 10 units².

Hope this helps!
