Answer:The right option is A( to cause intact DNA to precipitate,so the activity of DNase can be determined.

Explanation:

Deoxyribonuclease(DNase) test is used to determine the ability of an organism, usually of bacteria origin, to hydrolyse

DNA ( deoxyribonucleic acid). The organism uses the DNA present as a source of carbon and energy for growth. The DNase medium is grouped as a differential medium as it helps distinguish organisms able to produce DNase from non producing organisms. The medium is pale green in colour because of the DNA- methyl green complex. Methyl green( the indicator) is a cation which binds to the negatively charged DNA.

When an organism is inoculated onto the medium, if the organism that grows in the medium produces DNase,DNA will be broken down leading to the release of free methyl green cation in the medium. The green colour of medium fades and the colony is surrounded by a colourless zone.

But when the DNase agar is prepared without an indicator (methyl green), HCL is used for easy identification of the DNase activity.

Answer:

A. To cause intact DNA to precipitate, so the activity of DNase can be determined.

Explanation:

The presence of DNase is special feature for some species of bacteria and can be used for identifying them. During DNase test, diluted hydrochloric acid (HCl) can be poured onto the agar plates so that there will be a clear zone close to the bacteria colonies. Each nucleotides are soluble in diluted HCl. But DNA is not soluble in the diluted HCl, thereby making the DNA to precipitate in the rest of the plate.

Which of the following would be true of a plant heterozygous for a single gene controlling flower color? (Assume complete domina
Rasek [7]

Answer:

C: If crossed with another heterozygous plant, the majority of progeny will have the dominant flower color.

Explanation:

Assuming the gene is represented an allele A, purple colour can be AA or Aa while white colour will be aa.

If a heterozygous plant Aa is crossed with another heterozygous Aa, the genotype of the progeny will be AA, Aa, Aa and aa.

Since allele A is dominant over a, it thus means that the phenotype of the progeny will be 3 purple and 1 white flowered plant.

Hence, the majority of the progeny will have the dominant (75%) flower colour.

The correct option is C.

magine that some members of an aquatic species of motile, photosynthetic protists evolve to become parasitic to fish. They gain
tia_tia [17]

Option:

a.) gain of meiosis .

b.) loss of mobility.

c.) loss of chloroplasts .

d.) no changes would be expected .

e.) gain a rigid cell wall.

Answer:

 • Option-(C): Loss of chloroplasts .

Explanation:

 • The protists are known to have the chloroplast inside there bodies in order to have there own food mostly prepared by themselves in the given manner, since they no more require the chloroplast to produce there own food thus the presence of the pigment will no use to them. And thus after the level of evolution that occurs inside them we do not expect any form of pigments to be found inside there bodies.
