Answer:

This question includes some errors, the question should be written as:

The medulla oblongata controls the contraction and relaxation of the ______ causing the lungs to inflate and deflate during breathing.

Although there are no options, the answer is generally RESPIRATORY MUSCLES i.e. diaphragm and intercostal muscles

Explanation:

Breathing is an involuntary action required to take place in order to get oxygen into the system and carbon dioxide out of the system. However, the process of breathing is neurally controlled by brain portion called RESPIRATORY CONTROL CENTERS.

The Medulla oblongata located in the hindbrain is one of the two respiratory control centers (the other being the PONS). The medulla sends nerve signals to the muscles responsible for bringing about the ventilation process i.e. the DIAPHRAGM and INTERCOSTAL MUSCLES.

This nerve impulse brings about the contraction of the diaphragm, which is the major respiratory muscle, and intercostal muscle causing the lungs to inflate and allow the entry of oxygen-containing air. On the other hand, it also brings about the relaxation of these muscles causing the lungs to deflate allowing the expelling of air.

What statement correctly describes the relationship among endocrine glands, target cells, water-soluble hormones, and lipid-solu
9966 [12]

Water-soluble and lipid-soluble hormones that bind to target cells are secreted by endocrine glands.

The interaction between endocrine glands, target cells, water-soluble hormones, and lipid-soluble hormones is accurately described by the aforementioned sentence.

What functions and how does the endocrine system operate?

The level of hormones in your blood is regularly monitored by your endocrine system. In order to transmit the message, hormones send their messages by locking into the cells they intend to reach.

When your hormone levels increase, the pituitary gland signals other glands to stop manufacturing and releasing hormones. The pituitary gland has the ability to tell other glands to manufacture and release additional hormone when levels fall below a certain threshold.

Homeostasis is a process that functions similarly to your home's thermostat. Almost every physiological process is impacted by hormones, including:

 • Metabolism
 • Growth & development.
 • Emotions & mood.
 • Fertility & sexual function.
 • Sleep.
 • Blood pressure.

Why do adult urochordates (tunicates) lack notochords, even though larval urochordates have them? Larvae use notochords to _____
kirza4 [7]

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

A tunicate is marine invertebrate animal which is a part of chordates. They have notochords and dorsal nerve chord. The subphylum of the organism is called as Urochordata.

The adult urochordates lack notochord but the larval stage of the urochordates have notochord. This is because it helps in swimming of the organism which is required only at the larval stage.

The adult stage of the tunicates is sessile and they do not swim so they do not require notochord.

You have been hired to forecast future population level for a small country. You know that this country currently has 25 million
Jobisdone [24]

Answer:

Explanation below

Explanation:

It should be understood that the population growth rate of a particular country can be explained or described as the increase in the number of the citizens of that country.

There are so many factors that contribute to an increase in the number of people of a country. These include influx of people into the country, increase in birth rate and decrease in death or mortality rate.

In this case, the growth rate is usually calculated in percentage, so the growth rate should be around 3.5%.
