Answer: Each person gets 1/6 of a pound.

Explanation:

See the diagram below.

Draw a rectangle and cut it in half. Only shade in one of those halves.

This represents the 1/2 pound of coffee that we'll distribute to each of the three people.

For each half, divide it into 3 equal pieces. You should have 6 smaller rectangles. This is because 3*2 = 6.

So each person gets 1/6 of a pound.

In other words, you're computing (1/3)*(1/2) = (1*1)/(3*2) = 1/6.

You could use a pie or pizza instead of rectangles, but I find it harder to divide up a circle compared to a rectangle.

Answer:

-12,040.3

Step-by-step explanation:

When you have a + and a - next to each other it becomes a -, so the problem we do is 59.7 -12,100 which comes to -12040.3.

Elan Coil [88]

Two planes may intersect, be parallel, or coincide .

If two planes intersect, then the set of common points is a line that lies in both planes. Two parallel planes can not intersect.

The intersection of two planes that do not coincide (if it exists) is always a line.

If an intersection of the planes does not exist, the planes are said to be parallel.

When 200 gallons of oil were removed from a tank, the volume of oil left in the tank was 3/7 of the tank's capacity. what was th
ki77a [65]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

"When 200 gallons of oil were removed from a tank" algebraically looks like this:

V - 200.

"...the volume of oil left in the tank was 3/7 of the tank's capacity" algebraically looks like this:

3/7(V)

Therefore, the equation is

V - 200 = 3/7(V)

Begin by multiplying both sides by 7:

7(V - 200) = 3V and

7V - 1400 = 3V so

-1400 = -4V so

V = 350 gallons

That's if the volume of the oil in the tank was 3/7 of the tank's capacity.

For the other part of the problem, we set up the equation almost the same, except the 3/7 is a 1/2:

V - 200 = 1/2(V)

Multiplying both sides by 2 gives you

2(V - 200) = V and

2V - 400 = V so

-400 = -V so

V = 400
