x-4 =dimes

.25x+.10(x-4)=2.05

.25x + .10x-.40=2.05

.35x = 2.45

 

divide by 0.35, both sides

x=7

x-4=3

7 quarters ($1.75)

3 dimes ($0.30

Total=$2.05

so you need 7 quarters and 3 dimes
