Which structure forms as DNA unwinds? A. a special marker B. a complementary base C. a replication bubble D. a double helix
kozerog [31]

A replication bubble forms as the DNA unwinds.

Option C

Explanation:

Replication bubble is the space where the strands of double helical DNA structure are separated with the help of DNA helicase. The strands of the double helical DNA are still in the helix form on the both end of the unwinded DNA stand which gives this region an appearance of a bubble.

DNA unwinding is the first step in replication or transcription of the DNA molecule. DNA helicase separates the two types of "DNA" that are connected by hydrogen bonds with the help of ATP hydrolysis.

As a conservationist, what are your top three concerns regarding the hydroelectric dam and the biodiversity of the region?
storchak [24]

Answer:

I’m concerned about how the dam will affect the water flow in the river, which can affect the behaviors of fish. I’m also concerned that some fish and aquatic animals might get sucked into the dam. Finally, I worry that the dam could malfunction and cause flooding, which could damage the ecosystem.

nexus9112 [7]

Answer:

The probability of getting a dwarf and pink female is 1/2

Explanation:

In mice, dwarfism is caused by an X-linked recessive allele, and pink coat is caused by an autosomal dominant allele where coats are normally brownish.

A dwarf female from a pure line will have Xd Xd where d represent the recessive trait and the female is also brownish (pp).

A pink male from a pure line will be XPY where P represent the dominant allele but not a dwarf (D).

If scientists are wrong about Earth's age based on radioactive material and the decay rates are really much faster, how would nu
kupik [55]

Nuclear power plants use the energy originating from the splitting or uranium atoms to produce steam, which in turn drives a turbine generator.

The main problem with this form of energy production is the byproduct from the nuclear reactors known as radioactive waste. Although it is no longer efficient for the energy production, this waste is still radiating large amounts of heat and radiation. Thus, they are very hazardous as they are fatal on direct exposure and can contaminate the environment.

Due to the extremely long half-life, long term storage for this waste is extremely problematic. However, if the decay rates were much faster, then the half-life would also be much shorter. Thus, short term storage solutions could be found.

Excepting the nuclear waste and the potential accidents (which are minimized in modern plants), nuclear energy does not immediately affect the climate on earth. With short half-lives, nuclear energy would perhaps become more popular than solar or wind energy as it is more reliable and efficient.
