whitney has a coin jar with a small collection of nickels and dimes. there are 69 coins in the jar. they have a value of $5.90.
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

The number of nickels in the  jar is 20.

The number of dimes in the jar is 49.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume the total number of nickels = x

The total number of dimes  = y

Total coins = 69 coins

⇒x + y =  69

Now as we know:

      1 Nickel = $0.05

and 1 Dime = $0.10

⇒ The value of x nickels = x ( $0.05)  = 0.05 x

and The value of y nickels  =  y ( $0.10)  = 0.10 y

Total amount in jar = $5.90         ⇒0.05 x + 0.10 y =  $5.90

So, the given system of equation is

x + y =  69  ..............  (1)

0.05 x + 0.10 y =  5.90  ....... (2)

Substitute the value of y =  69 - x in (2) , we get:

0.05 x + 0.10 y =  5.90   ⇒ 0.05 x + 0.10 ( 69 - x)  = 5.90

or, 0.05 x +  6.9 - 0.10 x = 5.90

or, - 0.05 x = -1.00

⇒ x = 1/0.05 = 20, or x = 20

⇒ y =  69 - x  = 69 - 20  = 49

Hence the number of nickels in the  jar is 20

and the number of dimes in the jar is 49.

Mike and Kate plan to save money for their wedding over a 20 month period. They will need to save $8,000 to help pay for the wed
Lana71 [14]
D is the correct answer. Mike and Kate require $8000 for their wedding and have saved $4000 already, so they need a further $4000. They have saved the money over 12 months, which means they have been saving $333.33 every month (4000/12). In Option A they have 10 months to save money - the original 8 months, plus the 2 months the wedding is postponed. This will give them the chance to save $3333.33 (333.33 x 10). In Option B, they can increase their monthly savings by $80, giving them total monthly savings of $413.33 (333.33 + 80). In the remaining 8 months before the wedding, they will be able to save $3306.66 (413.33 x 8). However, neither of these options give them the $4000 required to make their $8000 budget.

What is a reflective Symmetric transitive and a substation property
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

The Symmetric Property states that for all real numbers x and y , if x = y , then y = x . Transitive Property. The Transitive Property states that for all real numbers x , y , and z , if x = y and y = z , then x = z . Substitution Property. If x = y , then x may be replaced by y in any equation or expression. I think it is.
