"Times were really tough when I finished high school. I was determined to not stay and work on my parents' farm but college was

not an option. I was so excited when I heard that I could maybe get a job just because I was young man! And, when I learned that it involved working outside, building things like roads or parks I knew I was going to apply. It didn't matter that I wasn't going to earn much money I was thrilled to just have a job and earn some money! I'll tell you thisthose two years living in tents, helping to build Roosevelt State Park were just about the most fun I ever had working and I wish kids today could do things like I did."
