Answer:

x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

3x -5 = -2 + 9

-2 + 9 = 7 so now its 3x - 5 = 7

add 5 to the -5 so it cancels itself out. then add the 5 to 7 so it become 12. the you have 3x = 12

divide 12 ÷ 3 = 4

x = 4

The answer is x = 4.
3x - 5 = -2 + 9
add -2 + 9 and that gives you 7 so now
3x - 5 = 7 you add -5 on both sides but when you switch the -5 over with the 7 is becomes +5 so now you have 3x = 12 since 5 + 7 is 12
then you’ll divide 3 on both sides and that leaves you with x = 4

olga55 [171]

Answer:

length = 30 feet and width = 20 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Let l is length and b is width of a rectangular yard. The area of a rectangle is given by :

A = lb ..(1)

A rectangular yard has a length that is 10 feet longer than the width.

length, l = 10+b ...(2)

ATQ,

Put the value of l in equation (1),

(10+b)b=600\\\\10b+b^2=600\\\\b^2+10b-600=0\\\\b^2+30b-20b-600=0\\\\b(b+30)-20(b+30)=0\\\\(b+30)(b-20)=0\\\\b=-30\ \text{feet}\ \text{and}\ b=20\ \text{feet}

Width can't be negative. The width is 20 feet.

Put the value of b is equation (2),

l = 10+20

l = 30 feet

Hence, the length and width are 30 feet and 20 feet.

Kobotan [32]

f(g(h(x)))=f(g(\sqrt x))=f(\sqrt x-1)=\boxed{(\sqrt x-1)^4+4}

This is because

h(x)=\sqrt x

g(x)=x-1

\implies g(h(x))=\sqrt x-1

(that is, replace any instance of <em>x</em> in the definition of <em>g</em> with √<em>x</em> )

and

f(x)=x^4+4

\implies f(\sqrt x-1)=(\sqrt x-1)^4+4

(replace any <em>x</em> in <em>f</em> with √<em>x</em> - 1)

Also acceptable:

(\sqrt x-1)^4+4=((\sqrt x)^4-4(\sqrt x)^3+6(\sqrt x)^2-4\sqrt x+1)+4

=\boxed{x^2-4x\sqrt x+6x-4\sqrt x+5}

(assuming <em>x</em> is not negative)

Zarrin [17]

Answer:

P(X\leq 5)

And we can find the individual probabilities like this:

P(X=0)=(17C0)(0.6)^0 (1-0.6)^{17-0}=0.000000171

P(X=1)=(17C1)(0.6)^1 (1-0.6)^{17-1}=0.00000439

P(X=2)=(17C2)(0.6)^2 (1-0.6)^{17-2}=0.0000526

P(X=3)=(17C3)(0.6)^3 (1-0.6)^{17-3}=0.000394

P(X=4)=(17C4)(0.6)^4 (1-0.6)^{17-4}=0.00207

P(X=5)=(17C5)(0.6)^5 (1-0.6)^{17-5}=0.000807

And adding we got:

P(X\leq 5) = 0.0106

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A Bernoulli trial is "a random experiment with exactly two possible outcomes, "success" and "failure", in which the probability of success is the same every time the experiment is conducted". And this experiment is a particular case of the binomial experiment.

The binomial distribution is a "DISCRETE probability distribution that summarizes the probability that a value will take one of two independent values under a given set of parameters. The assumptions for the binomial distribution are that there is only one outcome for each trial, each trial has the same probability of success, and each trial is mutually exclusive, or independent of each other".

The probability mass function for the Binomial distribution is given as:

P(X)=(nCx)(p)^x (1-p)^{n-x}

Where (nCx) means combinatory and it's given by this formula:

nCx=\frac{n!}{(n-x)! x!}

The complement rule is a theorem that provides a connection between the probability of an event and the probability of the complement of the event. Lat A the event of interest and A' the complement. The rule is defined by: P(A)+P(A') =1

Solution to the problem

Let X the random variable of interest, on this case we know that:

X \sim Binom(n=17, p=0.6)

And we want this probability:

P(X\leq 5)

And we can find the individual probabilities like this:

P(X=0)=(17C0)(0.6)^0 (1-0.6)^{17-0}=0.000000171

P(X=1)=(17C1)(0.6)^1 (1-0.6)^{17-1}=0.00000439

P(X=2)=(17C2)(0.6)^2 (1-0.6)^{17-2}=0.0000526

P(X=3)=(17C3)(0.6)^3 (1-0.6)^{17-3}=0.000394

P(X=4)=(17C4)(0.6)^4 (1-0.6)^{17-4}=0.00207

P(X=5)=(17C5)(0.6)^5 (1-0.6)^{17-5}=0.000807

And adding we got:

P(X\leq 5) = 0.0106

Valentin [98]

Answer: He will need 1 1/4 cups of butter

Step-by-step explanation:

1. We can do 28/8 to find how much we need to multiply our 1/2 cup of butter to keep the ratio of people to cups of butter the same. 28/8= 3 1/2

2. Then we can multiply 3 1/2 and 1/2 to get 1 1/4 cups of butter.
