hello

so the image is a bit blurry for me but i'll do my best. if any of my numbers are wrong just change it and re-calculate.

first we want to find the slope which we can do using m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1}}

so our (x_{1},y_{1}) would be (0,-7) (x_{2},y_{2}) would be (5,-10)

when we input it into the slope equation we should get m=(-10+7)/(5-0)=-3/5

slope intercept form is: y=mx+b

our b, or y-intercept, is -7 as that is the point the line crosses the y-axis

so if we input everything we should get: y=(-3/5)x-7

hope this helps

have a nice day :)

Two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal. What is the value of k? k = 9 k = 20 k = 60 k = 71
Musya8 [376]

your question seems missing the figure.

I am attaching the required figure below.

You can study the correct answer to your question and complete explanation with the figure  below.

Answer:

k=60

Step-by-step explanation:

When a pair of parallel lines is crossed by a transversal, it will make 8 angles, pairs of vertical/opposite angles, two pairs of acute angles and two pairs of obtuse angles. All acute angles are congruent as well as all obtuse angles are congruent. Simply we can say that pairs of acute angles and pairs of obtuse angles are congruent.

From the figure attached below (by the name "Pairs of parallel lines crossed by a transversal"), we get the following equations as:

2k+11=131

Solving for k, we get

2k=131-11

2k=120

k=120/2

k=60

How do you do this!?!
Andrei [34K]

11x + y = 4

<u>x  |   y</u>

0  |   4

\frac{4}{11} |   0

<em>plot the y-intercept (0, 4) and the x-intercept (\frac{4}{11}, 0) </em>

or

11x + y = 4

<u>-11x      </u>  <u>-11x </u>

      y = -11x + 4      ⇒ m = \frac{-11}{1}, b = 4

<em>plot at point the y-intercept "b = 4" (0,4).  plot the next point using the slope "m = \frac{-11}{1}" from point (0,4), count down 11 and to the right 1 (1,-7).</em>

Using intercepts would not provide an accurate graph because you have to estimte where (\frac{4}{11}, 0) is, so it is best to use slope-intercept form.

***********************************************************************************************************

x + y = -2

<u>x  |   y</u>

0  |  -2

-2 |   0

<em>plot the y-intercept (0, -2) and the x-intercept (-2, 0)</em>

or

x + y = -2

<u>-x      </u>  <u> -x </u>

     y = -x - 2     ⇒ m = \frac{-1}{1}, b = -2

<em>plot at point the y-intercept "b = -2" (0,-2).  plot the next point using the slope "m = \frac{-1}{1}" from point (0,-2), count down 1 and to the right 1 (1,-3).</em>

Both methods are easy to use so either can be used.

**********************************************************************************************************

x - 2y = 18

<u>x  |   y</u>

0  |  -9

18 |   0

<em>plot the y-intercept (0, -9) and the x-intercept (18, 0)</em>

or

x - 2y = 18

<u>-x        </u>   <u> -x </u>

   -2y = -x + 18

    \frac{-2y}{-2} = \frac{-1}{-2}x + \frac{18}{-9}

       y = \frac{1}{2}x - 9

<em>plot at point the y-intercept "b = -9" (0,-9).  plot the next point using the slope "m = \frac{1}{2}" from point (0,-9), count up 1 and to the right 2 (2,-8).</em>

Using intercepts will make a large graph since you have to plot (18,0) so it is best to use the slope-intercept form.
