Four less than the quotient of a number and 4 is 14. What is the number? Let n be the unknown number.
Maru [420]
So the equation is n/4-4=14
then you +4 to both sides
n/4-4=14 so now the equation is n/4=18 then you multiply 18 by 4 and get 72
   +4    +4
then to check your work
72/4-4=14
so N=72
Hope I helped :)

Pls help! I'm confused. Can you explain this if you can.
alexdok [17]

Answer:

From a <u>table</u>, for an ordered pair (0, y), <em>y</em> will not be <u>zero</u>. From a <u>graph</u>, the y-intercept will not be <u>zero</u>.  From an equation, it will have the form, y = mx + b where b is <u>≠ 0</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • From a <u>table</u>, for an ordered pair (0, y), <em>y</em> will not be <u>zero</u>. If there is not a constant rate of change in the data displayed in a table, then the table represents a nonlinear nonproportional relationship.
  • From a <u>graph</u>, the y-intercept will not be <u>zero</u>. This means that it doesn't contain or go through the origin.
  • From an equation, it will have the form, y = mx + b where b is <u>≠ 0.</u> (not equal to zero). If an equation is not a linear equation, it represents a nonproportional relationship. A <u>linear equation</u> of the form y = mx + b may represent either a <em>proportional</em> (b = 0) or <em>nonproportional</em> (b ≠ 0) relationship.  Therefore, when b ≠ 0, the relationship between <em>x</em> and <em>y</em> is <u>nonproportional</u>.

<h3>Explain why it is helpful to know the basic function shapes and discuss some ways to remember them. </h3>
  • Knowing the basic function shapes and discuss some ways to remember them is helpful because this is useful tools in the creation of mathematical models because we constantly make theories about the relationships between variables in nature and society. Functions in school mathematics are typically defined by an algebraic expression and have numerical inputs and outputs.

In a school,3/5 of the pupils were boys and there were 240 girls. How many boys were in the school.
zepelin [54]

Answer:

If 2/5 is 240 then 1/5 is 120..multiply 120 by 5 which is 600 so...

600=total

Then..multiply 120 by 3 which will give the 3/5 boys which is 360 so...
