tatyana61 [14]
I disagree with the current answer. I believe the answer is the one you have selected. This is because the three domains of life are separated into 3 categories, bacteria, archeabacteria, and eukaryotes. Archeabacteria are prokaryotic, and possess no true nucleus.

What is one piece of evidence that some organelles like mitochondria and chloroplasts within eukaryotes used to be independent p
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

organelles are very similar to present-day bacteria, suggesting a common ancestor.

Explanation:

Some evidence suggests that some organelles like mitochondria and chloroplasts within eukaryotes were once used to be independent eukaryotes.

Endosymbiosis theory says that ancestral prokaryotic cells engulfed bacteria like cyanobacteria which with time evolved into mitochondria and chloroplast. Molecular evidence also proves that these organelles were once prokaryotic organisms because they show similar genetic makeup and ribosome type.

So these organelles are similar to present-day bacteria showing that they have a common ancestor.

The higher the ____ content of a dna, the ____ the strength of the interchain interactions, and the ____ the melting temperature
castortr0y [4]

The higher the GC content of a DNA, the higher the strength of the interchain interactions, and the higher the melting temperature.

DNA is Deoxyribonucleic Acid. It is the genetic material in maximum of the organisms. The DNA is a polymer made from nucleotides (sugar, nitrogenous bases and phosphate group). It is composed of two strands of phosphate and sugar backbone in an antiparallel direction. The nitrogenous bases present in DNA are Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G) and Cytosine (C).

GC content refers to the total amount of Guanine and Cytosine present in the DNA. Since there exists a triple bond between G and C, more percentage of them provides strength to DNA. That is why high GC content denotes high melting temperature of DNA.
