Answer:

+47°C

Explanation:

ΔT means change in temperature. If the change is positive, it means that heat was added and the temperature went up.

ΔT = final temp - initial temp

ΔT = 86°C -39°C = + 47°C

A molecule of antifreeze, ethylene glycol, has the formula c2h4(oh)2. how many atoms are there in one molecule of antifreeze?
kifflom [539]
Answer is: there are ten atoms in one molecule of antifreeze.
One molecule of ethylene glycol (C₂H₄(OH)₂) has two carbon atoms, six hydrogen atoms (4 + 2 · 1) and two oxygen atoms (2 · 1). So there are:
2 + 6 + 2 = 10 atoms.
Ethylene glycol (C₂H₄(OH)₂) is an odorless, sweet-tasting, colorless viscous liquid.

A) Use bond enthalpies to estimate the enthalpy change for the reaction of hydrogen with ethene.
garri49 [273]

Answer:

(a) -134 kJ         (b) -136 kJ

Explanation:

a) Using the accounting of the  enthalpy  of broken and formed  bonds we will have the answer for this question ( remember the enthalpy of bonds broken are positive and those formed are negative)

ΔHrxn(kJ) = 6H (C-H) + 1 (C-C)+ 1H (H) + 1(C=C) + 4(C-H)

= 6(-411) +(-346) +432 + 602 + 4(411)

= - 134 kJ

(b) ΔHrxn = ΔHºf(C2H6) - ΔHºf (C2H4) = -83.75 kJ- 52.3 kJ =  -136 kJ

( ΔHºf (H2)) = 0)

How to know if a molecule is polar or nonpolar?
umka21 [38]
Usually polar molecules have lone pairs because of their asymmetrical distribution of charge.

you can determine a molecules polarity by using a chart showing elements different electronegativities and subtracting them

ex. NonPolar molecules have electronegativities from 0.0 to 0.2, I have polar molecules have electronegativities from 0.2-1.4.
