The first thing you are going to do is break this polygon up into 4 separate squares. Then, you are going to find the area of each of the squares. Once you have determined the areas, you are going to add them up to get the total area of the polygon.

8 × 7 = 46
5 × 2 = 10
8 × 5 = 40
48 + 46 + 10 + 40 = 144
Area = 144m²
