Why does math homework exist?
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

Homework creates a bridge between school and home. Parents rarely get to spend much time with you while you're at school. Homework allows them to keep up with what you're doing in your classes on a daily basis. But you don't have homework purely for your parents' benefit. It's good for you, too, or maybe because teachers want to see us suffer

A map of Texas shows the scale to be 1in per 80 miles. The distance between Austin and Corpus Christi is 232 miles. How many inc
umka21 [38]

The two cities will be 2.9 inches apart on the map.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given scale of map is;

1 inch = 80 miles

Ratio of inch to miles = 1:80

Actual distance between Austin and Corpus = 232 miles

Let,

x be the distance between Austin and Corpus on map.

Ratio of inch to miles = x:232

Using proportion;

Scale ratio :: Actual ratio

1:80::x:232\\

Product of mean = Product of extreme

80*x=232*1\\80x=232\\

Dividing both sides by 80

\frac{80x}{80}=\frac{232}{80}\\x=2.9

The two cities will be 2.9 inches apart on the map.
