Answer:

Throughout the excerpt Shakespeare use different kinds of figurative language such personification, metaphors, and symbolism. He uses these throughout the text to develop the tone of his excerpt. First, he uses personification so that he can give non-human or objects human characteristics. For example, he says “My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar…” This can develop the tone by changing it to depressed of grieving kind of tone. This means the he is refusing to move on and burying himself in grieving until that person comes back leaving the tone for this sentence in more of a sad depressed tone.

Metaphors was also a figurative language that was used throughout this excerpt. This is used for making a comparison between two things that are not alike.  For example, he says “The good is oft interred with their bones…” This sentence sets a serious tone for the excerpt. This means that the good of people is often buried with them this often gives them a feel that there is no hope in the world make the tone set a serious.

Shakespeare also used symbolism in his excerpt to develop the tone. He used symbolism to express multiple ideas at once. For example, he says, “I thrice presented him a kingly crown…” and “Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?” This set a more non-trustworthy tone. This means that he used symbolism to show multiple ideas in these examples. This sentence also means that he was crowned king three times and rejected it each time this makes me think he is dishonest and not trustworthy.
