Salva is a real person (the story is based on him) while Nya is a fictional character.
If I'm not mistaken, its a fused run-on sentence. A comma splice is where there is an unneeded comma, and it isn't a simple as it contains a conjunction.
Capulet thinks Juliet is too young to elope (get married), but cannot refuse Paris. To get more time he asks Count Paris to Court his daughter. It is his way of showing that he knows what is best for Juliet.
