For sample sizes greater than 40, the results of hypothesis tests and confidence intervals using the t distribution are highly s

ensitive to non-normality of the population from which samples are taken
b.the use of the t distribution assumes that the population from which the sample is drawn is normally distributed
c.for small sample sizes, the t distribution should not be used for data that is highly skewed and/or contains extreme outliers
d.since the t distribution procedure is robust, it can be used even for small sample with strong skewness and extreme outliers

\boxed{{\text{Option b}}} is correct as the the use of the t distribution assumes that the population from which the sample is drawn is normally distributed.

\boxed{{\text{Option c}}} for small sample sizes, the t distribution should not be used for data that is highly skewed and/or contains extreme outliers.

Further Explanation:

For sample sizes greater than 40.

a) the results of hypothesis tests and confidence intervals using the t distribution are highly sensitive to non-normality of the population from which samples are taken is not correct as the sample size is large the data is normally distributed.

b) the use of the t distribution assumes that the population from which the sample is drawn is normally distributed is correct as the condition to apply t-distribution is that the data is normally distributed.

c) for small sample sizes, the t distribution should not be used for data that is highly skewed and/or contains extreme outliers is correct as the sample size is small the data set is less normally distributed.

d) since the t distribution procedure is robust, it can be used even for small sample with strong skewness and extreme outliers is not correct as it is the contradiction of option (c).

We' supposed to indicate which statement is true/false.

Note that, if a sample size is 40 or over, we can use the t distribution even with skewed data. So it's not highly sensitive to non-normality of the population from which samples are taken. So statement A is false.

It's true that the t-distribution assumes that the population from which samples are drawn is normally distributed. So B is true.

For skewed data or with extreme outliers, we can't use the t distribution. We only use t distribution as long as we believe that the population from which samples are drawn is closed to a bell-shape. So C is true.

Lastly, statement D is against statement C. So D is false.

Answer:

15i

Step-by-step explanation:

since 15 x 15 is 225, the imaginary number comes into play here. i x i = -1, so 15i x 15i = -225

fredd [130]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 7x - 1/2x + 1/4 = 6

move x to one side move numbers to the other side

5x + 7x - 1/2 x = 6 - 1/4

add x and numbers

23/2x = 23/4

divide both side by 23/2

x = (23/4)/(23/2)

 = 1/2

plug it in to check the answer

5/2 + 7/2 - 1/4 + 1/4 = 6

12/2 = 6

What is the surface area of the solid?
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

 D. 28 square centimeters

Step-by-step explanation:

The surface area of the prism is the sum of the base areas and the lateral area. Here, the base is an odd shape, so it must be decomposed into shapes we can find the area of.

__

base area

The base of this prism is the L-shaped face nearest the observer. It can be decomposed into a 1 cm square atop a 1 cm by 3 cm rectangle. The area of the face is the sum of the areas of these parts.

 square area = s² . . . . where s is the side length

 = (1 cm)² = 1 cm²

 rectangle area = bh . . . . b is the base, h is the height

 = (3 cm)(1 cm) = 3 cm²

Then the area of the one prism base we see is ...

 base area = 1 cm² +3 cm² = 4 cm²

The total area of both L-shaped bases of the prism is ...

 total base area = 2(4 cm²) = 8 cm²

__

lateral area

The perimeter of the base is the sum of the lengths of its edges. Working clockwise from the lower left corner, we find the base perimeter to be ...

 (1 +2 +1 +1 +2 +3) cm = 10 cm

The lateral area is the product of the "height" of the prism (the distance between the parallel bases) and this perimeter length.

 LA = Ph

 LA = (10 cm)(2 cm) = 20 cm²

__

solid area

The surface area of the solid is the sum of the areas of the bases and the lateral area:

total surface area = total base area + LA

 = (8 cm²) +(20 cm²) = 28 cm²

The surface area of the solid is 28 square centimeters.
