Describe the difference in the purpose and naming process of a criminal case and a civil case.
daser333 [38]

Answer:

A criminal case is a case in which the plaintiff is society, so the court cases often start with “The People of...” or “The State of...” v. The Defendant. The defendant’s name is used in the name of court cases. Since the plaintiff is a society, it is the government that pays for the prosecuting attorney. The purpose of a criminal case is the prosecution and punishment of a criminal. In civil cases, the names of individuals, groups, or organizations are used. Since the person suing has chosen to begin a lawsuit, the plaintiff is responsible for paying for his/her own counsel. The purpose of a civil suit is compensation for losses or wrongdoing.

What happens when voters are out of state on Election Day?
Inessa05 [86]

If voters are out of state on Election Day they can use an absentee ballot to cast their votes.

A voter is usually allocated to a particular polling station. If he is away in another location for any reasons, he can still vote using the absentee ballot.

This can be done today by different means:

- by postal vote ( the voting papers are sent to the voter and he returns them after voting, often in the presence of a witness),

- by proxy voting ( the voter appoints somebody as their proxy, authorizing them to cast a vote for him),

- by internet voting.

The most common way to vote on an absentee ballot in the United States is by postal vote, called 'mail in paper ballot'.
