Answer:

The value of x = 4.4 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Given that figure A is a scale image of Figure B.

It is clear that the two sides are similar, so their corresponding angles will be congruent and corresponding sides are in proportion.

Thus, using the corresponding ratios of figure A and Figure B

\frac{x}{4}\:=\:\frac{11}{10}

Multiply both sides by 10

\frac{x}{4}\cdot \:10=\frac{11}{10}\cdot \:10

\frac{5x}{2}=11

5x=22

Divide both sides by 5

\frac{5x}{5}=\frac{22}{5}

x=\frac{22}{5}

x = 4.4

Therefore, the value of x = 4.4 units.

The ratio of two complementary angles is 17:13. What is the measure of the smaller angle?
Mariana [72]
We know by definition that complementary angles add up to 90 degrees. We can set up an equation using the ration given:

17x+13x=90, with x representing the amount you need to multiply the ratio by to get 90.

17x+13x=90
30x=90
x=3

We now know that the number we multiply the ratio by is 3. The smaller number in the ratio is 13, and so therefore we multiply it by 3.

3*13=39

The answer is 39 degrees.

Talia gave her hairdresser a 20 percent tip, which amounted to $7. What was the price of the service before the tip?
mina [271]
I don't know if I did it right but here's my guess. I think you multiply 7 by 20% and that gives you 1.40 as a result. Compared to the other method I used (division), I'm pretty sure I'm right since the other result was 35. Doesn't make sense if the end amount was $7.

I NEED HELPP PLZ Which equation best represents the relationship shown in this graph?
Dafna11 [192]

Answer:

y = 2x

the formula for linear equations are y = mx+c,

where m is the gradient,

and c is the y-intercept

to find m (the gradient):

1. pick to points on the graph (eg. -2,-4 and 2,4)

2 substitute the values into the formula for gradient y2-y1/x2-x1.

m = y2-y1/x1-x2

= -4 -4/-2-2

= -8/-4

= 2

to find c (y-intercept):

- the y-intercept is where the graph cuts the y axis

- in this graph, the y-intercept is 0

hence,

c = 0

substitute m = 2 and c = 0 to y = mx+c,

y = 2x + 0

y = 2x

hence, the equation that best represents the relationship shown in the graph is y = 2x.
