Given:

The functions are:

h(x)=x^2

k(x)=-\dfrac{1}{7}x^2

To find:

The transformation from the graph of h to the graph of k.

Solution:

The transformation is defined as

k(x)=ah(x+a)=                .... (1)

Where, a is stretch factor

If 0<|a|<1, then the graph compressed vertically by factor |a| and if |a|>1, then the graph stretch vertically by factor |a|.

If a, then the graph of h(x) reflected across the x-axis.

We have,

h(x)=x^2

k(x)=-\dfrac{1}{7}x^2

It can be written as

k(x)=-\dfrac{1}{7}h(x)         ...(2)

On comparing (1) and (2), we get

a=-\dfrac{1}{7}

The graph of h(x) reflected across the x-axis.

|a|=\dfrac{1}{7}

So, the graph is compressed vertically.

It means the graph of <em>h</em> reflection over the x-axls and a vertical stretch to get the graph of <em>k.</em>

Therefore, the correct option is B.

lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

CD = 45

Step-by-step explanation:

CE = 180

( x + 6 ) + ( 4x - 21 ) = 180

5x - 15 = 180

5x = 195

x = 39

substitute x in CD

CD = x + 6

CD = 39 + 6

CD = 45

The radius of a circle of area a and circumference c is doubled. find the new area of the circle in terms of
maksim [4K]
By definition, the circumference of a circle is:
 c = 2 * pi * r&#10;
 The area of a circle is:
 a = pi * r ^ 2&#10;
 Where,
 r: radius of the circle.
 When the radius is double, then the new area is:
 A = \pi*(2r)^2&#10;
 Rewriting we have:
 A = 4 * \pi * r ^ 2&#10;
 In terms of a we have:
 A = 4 * a
 Answer:

The new area of the circle in terms of a is:

A = 4 * a
