Olenka [21]
A good place to start for this question is to define the properties of the geometric terms you are given.

Quadrilaterals have four straight sides.

Parallelograms are quadrilaterals that have two pairs of parallel sides. The opposite sides and opposite angles are congruent. Squares, rectangles, and rhombuses are examples of parallelograms.

Trapezoids are also quadrilaterals. They have only one pair of parallel sides.

So we're looking to see if there are any four-sided shapes that can be made with no parallel sides. The attached picture shows an example of a quadrilateral that is not a parallelogram and is not a trapezoid. Based on these properties of polygons, the correct answer is B.

Can someone explain to me how to find the vertex form of this equation? y= -x^2 + 12x-4
AVprozaik [17]

<u>ANSWER:  </u>

The vertex of given equation  y=-x^{2}+12 x-4 is (6, 32).

<u>SOLUTION: </u>

Given, quadratic equation is  y=-x^{2}+12 x-4

Above equation is a parabola and we need to find the vertex of that parabola.  We know that, general form of the parabola is  y=a(x-h)^{2}+k

Where, (h, k) is the vertex.

So, let us convert the given equation in parabolic equation.

\begin{array}{l}{y=-x^{2}+12 x-4} \\ {y=-\left(x^{2}-12 x+4\right)} \\ {y=-\left(x^{2}-(2)(x)(6)+6^{2}-6^{2}+4\right)} \\ {\left.y=-\left((x-6)^{2}-36+4\right)\right)} \\ {y=-(x-6)^{2}+32}\end{array}

Now, by comparing above equation with general form,

h = 6, k = 32 and a = -1.

Hence, the vertex of given equation is (6, 32).

After a day hike, a group of hikers set up a camp 3 km east and 7 km north of the starting point. The elevation of the camp is 0
Tcecarenko [31]
This is the concept of trigonometry;
Using the Pythagorean theorem, the elevation of the starting point will be given by:
c^2=a^2+b^2
c^2=7^2-3^2
c^2=49-9
c^2=40
thus;
c=6.325 km
therefore the starting point of the camp was:
6.325-0.6
=5.725 km
The answer is 5.725
