If he were to become a psychologist, I suspect he would be best suited for a career in cognitive psychology or neuroscience.
Both of these types of studies of the brain and the human mind have to do with remembering information, so it is only natural he should pursue either one of them. Cognitive psychology has more to do with methods of learning and remembering, whereas neuroscience is more about the actual processes within a human body.
